Sandwich Love

It was kind of a cold and crummy day, calling for something warm to put in a little tummy. Just what do you feed the dairy allergic child for lunch instead of a grilled cheese sandwich? Meet the Grilled Sunbutter and Banana Sammy.
So good and so simple: two slices of whole wheat bread, Earth Balance margarine on the outside, Sunbutter sunflower seed spread on the inside, and about half a banana in the middle, gently grilled to lightly browned perfection.
The Kid's response when he glimpsed the toasted warm and gooey goodness?
"Mommy, are you done taking pictures so I can eat my sandwich?"
Oops. Sometimes I get a little carried away.
I'm sharing this small labor of love with Alka of Sindhi Rasoi, who is hosting her first food event, "Just for You," a round up of recipes which have been made with care for someone the cook is especially fond of.

I have at last welcomed back the grilled "cheese" and it is pretty yummy :)

I love PB and banana sandwiches!

I love your kid's comment about you being done taking pictures. I try to take pictures fast before the food gets cold. :)

THANK GOODNESS FOR YOUR BLOG!

I just discovered it tonight and have been BOOKMARKING all of the recipes, then I found the friendly recipe index! My son is allergic to milk, eggs and peanuts. I am amazed (seriously my mouth has been wide open) at how CREATIVE you are! I appreciate this blog so much! Can't wait to try out some of these delicious ideas!

p.s. the grilled cheese alternative is brilliant!

Thanks again,

Sometimes the simple recipes are the best. My girls will only eat Sunbutter with banana (not with jam, not even homemade jam) so they would love this!

This is awesome! Emily eats sunbutter and jam sandwiches every day, and she may not be sick of them yet but I am! Thank you for the idea, I can't wait to try it!
