This is a lunch with some guaranteed favorites and a complete experiment. In the favorites category are turkey octodogs, grapes, Wylde Pretzels and a corn muffin. In the upper left hand corner is the sticky salad experiment, a combination of itty bitty pieces of carrot and cauliflower, which I stirred in with some honey and Sunbutter that had been melted in the microwave, and topped with a few raisins and pepitas, both of which are like crack to my child. The mixture is in a silicone baking cup with feet, which keeps it from getting loose in the compartment of the Easy Lunchbox. On the side are juice in a reusable container and a few snowman stickers. (The salad wasn't a success, but it has given me a good idea for a warm vegetable dish!)

That is so cute looking but you don't get objections to a un-warm hotdog?
He snarfs up turkey dogs, meatballs, chicken strips, even turkey burgers. The octodogs are pretty standard bento fare, so I guess he's not the only kid who's happy to eat room temp meat!

I was going to ask about the room temp hot dogs too. My son (pnut/nut allergies) is soooo tired of eating the same old lunches. I am wondering how he might enjoy an octodog. Looks very tempting to elementary school age eyes!
Hi Jennifer! You can find a good octodog tutorial here: http://lunchinabox.net/2008/02/22/how-to-make-an-octodog-octopus-hot-dog/ I cut a turkey dog in half and boil it. Instead of getting all fancy in adding eye/mouth, I usually carve those, too, before boiling.
And, yes, my son loves them!
