Product Review: Enjoy Life Decadent Bars

Enjoy Life Foods reliably produces some of the best gluten free and food allergy friendly products on the market, so I was pleased when they offered me the chance to review their new Decadent Bars. My kiddo was so excited when he saw the box with the red logo arrive, that I had trouble getting it back from him to photograph the bars that were inside!

The new Decadent Bars come in four flavors, Cinnamon Bun, Cherry Cobbler, Chocolate Sunbutter and S'mores. They are free of all the top eight allergens (peanut, tree nut, milk, eggs, soy, fish and shellfish), as well as gluten free. Each box contains five bars.

The texture of the bars is just incredible. I would never guess they are gluten free, and I am amazed that the magicians in the Enjoy Life test kitchen managed to make them chewy, but not too sticky, without reaching for the corn syrup found in almost every snack bar on the market. They've come light years from the Tootsie Roll texture of the original Coco Loco bars, which my kiddo still snarfs down any chance he gets.

My son loved the Chocolate Sunbutter and liked the S'mores, but didn't care for the other two. I thought the taste of all of them was nicely balanced, though I would have been happier with a more pronounced cinnamon flavor in the Cinnamon Bun bars and would have liked to find more substantial chunks of cherry in the Cherry Cobbler. I was also relieved to find that none of the bars were too sweet. These are definitely filling snacks, not desserts, despite their rich flavor and texture.

Overall, the Decadent Bars are a win, and an excellent addition to the already well rounded Enjoy Life product line.

Disclosure: I was provided with free samples, but not compensated for this review.

Thank you for sharing this!

I have recently discovered spread that have texture like peanut butter but it made out of crushed cookies ;)

Jamie, you're welcome!

Margot, do you mean the Biscoff spread? The members of my local allergy group went crazy for it a while back, but I stayed away, since it's hard enough getting healthy food into my child!

Great review--I think we can't get these here yet (like so many other things!). And the site looks great--so colorful! :D

Thanks, Ricki! I don't think the bars are in stores yet here, either, just available online.

If it makes you feel any better, though I know you're not a fan of sugar, there's a cottage industry importing Canadian versions of the same candy bars that we have here, since yours come from peanut/tree nut free facilities.
