Halloween Lunch

My kiddo is ten years old now and we're making the transition from Halloween cuteness to Halloween grossness. I won't be at all offended if you say "ewww" to the Jello brains or monster fingers in here!

Today's EasyLunchbox contains a turkey dog turned into monster fingers. Almost all the recipes for severed finger foods have slices of almond as a fingernail. I played around with some turkey dogs and daiya slices. I'm still not completely happy with them.

Alongside the fingers are raisins, pepitas made from the seeds from our Jack o-lantern in a round silicone cup and an apple slice and brain shaped Jello in square silicone cups. I used my only box of pink jello for my first batch of tasty brains, which stuck in the mold. For the second batch with black cherry flavored Jello, I rubbed the inside of the mold with vegetable oil first and they came out perfectly.

Here's the Jello mold I used. (Technically it's an ice cube tray.) I used half the amount of water called for by the instructions to make jiggler style brains

I hope you have a safe and spooky Halloween!
